May Drawing Festival Gallery

The Hazel Village animals loved their first Drawing Festival so much that they decided to host another one! In honor of our small business's 15th birthday, this festival’s drawing prompt was: PARTIES & CELEBRATIONS! 🎂

Three festival winners were randomly selected, and have each been sent an email with a $100 HV gift card. In this blog post, we have compiled a gallery of our team's 25 favorite submissions. Each featured artist has been sent an email with a special discount code for 20% off.

We want to thank everyone who participated in this Drawing Festival! We had so much fun looking through all of your art, and we hope you had fun creating. It was a challenge to select just 25 drawings to include in this gallery, but we hope you'll enjoy perusing the ones we chose. HUZZAH FOR ART!

Artist: Jesslyn, age 30

We are utterly wowed by the collage approach that Jesslyn took here! The animals are clearly having a celebratory party with tea, cake, and presents. It looks so inviting!

Artist: Billie Wyatt, age 29

We love this idea and how Billie drew it. We would love to know what sorts of activities the animals get up to at a Rain Party!

Artist: Emma Cupit, age 7

Emma drew a delightful birthday party for Phoebe* Fawn!
*sometimes spelled Fibbi

Artist: Margot, age 5

We like to think that Lucy Owl is quietly celebrating the beauty of all the blossoms in this drawing. Margot did a lovely job!

Artist: Bailey Calvin, age 24

This artwork shows the animals celebrating the Firefly Ball! We think Bailey really captured the glowy nighttime magic of this annual Hazel Village event.

Artist: Emilie Nussbaum, age 22

Emilie told us that she drew the Villagers celebrating Hanami, a Japanese festival that celebrates cherry blossom and the coming of spring. Here, Tillie, Phoebe and Lewis are reunited with their friends Soo-jin the panda and Haru the tanuki. How wonderful!

'Summer Party Day' by artist Emmy, age 7

We enjoy the purple-forward color palette that Emmy chose for her drawing, and we appreciate that she gave it a title as well!
Artist: Vienna Vong, age 4.5
We think Vienna's drawing really embodies the prompt of celebration! We particularly like the jaunty angle of Gwendolyn Raccoon's party hat.

Artist: Alexis Smith, age 23

While this one is not technically a drawing, we decided to include it anyway because it certainly fits the theme. Alexis's handmade embroidered party hat is quite stunning!

Artist: Alyssa , age 23

We think this birthday scene is not only very sweet, but beautifully illustrated as well! Alyssa's colorwork is both vivid and soft – the candlelight on the balloons is just lovely.

Artist: Ursula Robinson, age 4

We were quite charmed by Ursula's abstract drawing, thoughtfully accompanied by a little story to help us understand the scene.

Artist: Amethyst, age 8

We love the idea of a party taking place on Ella Toad's houseboat! And Annicke Mouse telling us that Amethyst made birthday cupcakes is a delightful detail.

Artist: Lindsay, age 25

Our favorite part of this artwork is the different yet color-coordinated party hats that Lindsay drew for each animal, and also their cute little clapping paws!

Artist: Klara Krause, age 11

Klara's drawing is so cleverly architectural and full of wonderful details that we knew we had to include it! One of our favorite parts is Oliver Mouse setting the table.

Artist: Jared P
Jared drew Jeremy Owl and Flora Fox having a delightful dance party. We love the sense of movement in this drawing, and we can almost hear the music!

Artist: Georgiana M, age 13

We're pretty sure this drawing depicts the animals gathering juneberries for the Juneberry Festival! We love how Georgiana drew the landscape, and the bridge that Max Raccoon is standing on is beautifully rendered.

Artist: The Matuszeks, ages 39 and 5

This is a beautifully colored drawing! We love Gracie Cat being silly in the front corner, and Florence Bat hanging upside down while wearing a turtle t-shirt.

Artist: Denise Laboe, age 63
We think Denise has such a cute way of drawing the Villagers, and we love Annicke Mouse's birthday outfit!

Artist: Nina Delilah, age 8.5
We love that Nina chose to draw each Villager and their outfits in ink, then added watercolor. The effect is lovely, and the deep blue background is very striking!

Artist: Sienna Richards, age 12

The animals look like they are having so much fun celebrating the Strawberry Festival in Sienna's drawing!

Artist: Saffron , age 21

This lovely artwork really feels like a warm and peaceful summer day at the Village! We appreciate that Saffron included strawberries absolutely everywhere.

'Boys Balloon Bounce Party' by artist Ev, age 8

Another delightful drawing with an excellent title! Augustus, Oliver, and Nicholas look like they are having so much fun!

Artist: Barry, age 28

Barry made a beautiful drawing of the animals celebrating May Day! Arthur, Margot, and Florence look SO cute, and the way this scene is captured really makes us feel like we're there.

Artist: Halle, age 12

Halle drew the animals enjoying a Dandelion Festival –  a delightful idea! Our favorite part is the little notepad that says "Yellow, fluffy." Quite right!

Artist: Halle, age 12
This artwork is also by Halle! We loved both of Halle's submissions so much that we just couldn't choose between them. In this one, Hazel Village itself is decorated for birthday festivities!

That's all, friends! Once again, thank you so much for joining us in this Drawing Festival. We already cannot wait for the next one! If you have any questions or just want to say hi, you can always reach us by email at hello@hazelvillage.com.
