February Drawing Festival Gallery

This past week, the Hazel Village animals hosted their very first Drawing Festival! We invited everyone to join in the celebration by creating a Village-inspired artwork. Well, friends, we received an astounding FOUR HUNDRED submissions! It was an absolute delight for our workshop team to look through each and every piece of art that you sent in. We are in awe of the talent, creativity, and imagination of our wonderful Hazel Village community!

Three festival winners were randomly selected, and have each been sent an email with a $100 HV gift card. In this blog post, we have compiled a gallery of our team's 25 favorite submissions. Each featured artist has been sent an email with a special discount code for 20% off.

Selecting which drawings to share in this blog required much deliberation, because there were simply so many amazing submissions. To all those who sent in work, thank you SO MUCH for participating in the first of what we hope will be many Drawing Festivals!

We hope you'll enjoy taking a stroll through this gallery. The theme was: Valentine's Day Outfits! 💌

Artist: Elliot, age 9
We were quite impressed by Elliot's creative vision for these anglerfish pajamas. Gracie and Margot look like they are having an incredibly fun sleepover!

Artist: Sarah Pick, age 38
Our favorite thing about this well designed ensemble is the cinnabar moth that Sarah chose to feature. A very Village detail!

Artist: Ever Brooks
Arthur Lamb and Flora Fox look simply dashing in these regency-inspired outfits! We love the color palette Ever chose as well.

Artist: Greta, age 6
We think Greta really captured Gracie Cat's energy in this portrait. And the heart-print leg warmers that match her dress? Smashing!

Artist: Natalie Naylor
An utterly charming tea party for two! We think Natalie's illustration is simply as cute as can be.

Artist: Ally, age 17
This outfit made us say "good shape!" Catalina Mouse looks both stylish and comfy.

–

Artist: Maya, age 3
We're not sure if the hearts Maya drew here are buttons, pockets, or a print, but we trust her creative vision. Ella Toad looks marvelous!

Artist: Jessica, age 36
Jessica perfectly captured the physicality of the animals in this drawing. We love Gracie's pondering paw and Catalina's intent studying of a dandelion.

Artist: Elisabeth Sofia, age 10
We love the details in this drawing: Ella and Juliette's matching XO shirts, the way they are each holding a valentine labeled for the other, and how their mini animals also have tiny valentines to exchange. Beautifully done!

Artist: Helen Belton, age 35
Augustus Wild Boar and Lucas Rabbit are a perfect pair in this lovely watercolor! We particularly like Lucas's jacket with heart buttons, and the hearts on his bonnet strings.

Artist: Abby Hoppes, age 25
We appreciate how Abby integrated depictions of the mail into her designs. Ella Toad's strawberry-print stamp dress is delightful!

Artist: Hazel O'Reiley, age 10
Our favorite detail in this drawing is Phoebe Fawn's dress, which has a cloud that is raining hearts. Inspired!

Artist: Beau Griffith, age 18
It always delights us to see the animals doing crafts! Beau created a beautiful scene here, right down to Lewis Toad peeking through the window with a valentine to deliver.

Artist: Macie, age 15
We think Macie's painting of Catalina Mouse in this patchwork dress is just lovely. And how kind of Catalina to offer Tulip the mini elephant a valentine!

Artist: Clifford McCoy, age 27
A stunning homage to Cyril Dragon! We love the slouchy silhouette of his outfit, and the sparkling gold of his wings and spikes.

Artist: Bria, age 28
We appreciate the sweet simplicity of this watercolor scene. Juliette Rabbit and Gracie Cat are both beautifully dressed!

Artist: Kasey Eichelberger, age 34
Kasey designed 3 excellent outfits, but we especially enjoy Gwendolyn Raccoon's maximalist Valentine's jumpsuit. Clearly the animals are preparing for quite the party!

Artist: Maisie F, age 6
We simply had to include this submission because we so enjoyed Maisie's creative spelling choices. We are also impressed by the sheer number of hearts she was able to fit on this dress!

Artist: Nicole Kruse, age 18
We think Nicole created such a cute scene in this drawing, and we love her color choices. Arthur Lamb's patchwork quilt cape is sublime!

Artist: Dex, age 17
This submission wowed us because it is such a unique art style, and so vivid! We especially like Gracie Cat's sleeves and Lucy Owl's satchel bag.

Artist: Leroy Cond, age 7
We think Leroy has a real eye for design and character. Lewis Toad looks outstanding in this checkered outfit!

Artist: Marta, age 21
We love how expressive both Arthur Lamb and Zoe Rabbit are in Marta's very cute art style. Arthur's overalls are amazing, and he is being so helpful!

Artist: Andrea Inzunza
We are in awe of Andrea's heart butterfly hat! Such a creative way to connect this festival's theme with the animals' preferred sort of millinery.

Artist: Heather Vahcic, age 31
We can clearly see the care that Heather put into this beautiful artwork. Our favorite detail is the tiny slice of cake!

Artist: Kane Klippert, age 2
For our final selection, we wanted to include this excellent clay fox created by Kane. Well done, Kane!

That's all, friends! Once again, thank you so much for joining us in this Drawing Festival. We already cannot wait for the next one!
