Drawing Festival Gallery | NATURE'S SPLENDOR
The Hazel Village animals hosted another Drawing Festival, and this time the theme was: NATURE'S SPLENDOR! Artists of all ages were invited to create a nature-inspired piece featuring the woodland friends.
First of all, let us issue our most hearty thanks to everyone who participated in this Drawing Festival! We received over 200 submissions and we had so much fun looking through them. Each and every one was delightful! For the grand prize, three winners were randomly selected (to keep things fair) and have each been sent an email with a $100 gift card.
After much deliberation, we have curated a selection of our 25 favorite submissions to include in this gallery. Each featured artist has been sent an email with a $5 coupon code as a little treat. Without further ado, we hope you enjoy!

Artist: Adalyn, age 9
We love Lucy Owl and Margot Cat's beautiful coordinating moon and sun dresses. We also noticed that Adalyn outlined Lucy and Margot in yellow to help them stand out against the night sky – very smart!
–

Artist: Greta Holl, age 7
Greta's drawing of Gracie Cat and Zoe Rabbit tending a bed of flowers instantly made us smile. We think Zoe's little speech bubble really rounds out the scene.
–

Artist: Janice, age 27
Janice painted a lovely portrait of Ella Toad in a field of daisies. We think Ella's character really shines through!
–

Artist: Ren Bojji, age 52
Ren painted a very sweet scene of Phoebe Fawn conducting her friends Peaseblossom, Leonard, Gracie, and Arthur, as they hold hands and sing a song together under the boughs of a tall tree. Looks like fun!
–

Artist: Klara Krause, age 12
Klara captured Alexander Opossum's sleepiness so adorably here. Since a bird is singing and Marigold Donkey is gathering flowers in the background, we assume our nocturnal friend is having some trouble getting in his daytime snooze. Best of luck, Alexander!
–

Artist: Heidi Krause, age 8
Little Toby Newt looks just incredibly cute sitting on a log in this drawing. We are impressed at how many creepy-crawly critters Heidi included in the scene, and we also think adding the ferns beside the log was a nice touch.
–

Artist: Rosie M., age 25
Rosie painted a quiet creek-side moment of Arthur Lamb and Marnie Chicken noticing a salamander sunning on a big rock beside some cattails. This scene captures a serene summer feeling that makes us wish we were there!
–

Artist: Genevieve Rose Miller, age 8
We love that Genevieve chose to draw Phoebe Fawn hugging her mini truffle pig inside the strawberry bag. We also enjoy Gaspard Duck and Oliver Mouse in the background and (presumably) Leonard Blue Jay flying over the mountains.
–

Artist: Lochlyn Berry-Moreau, age 22
Lochlyn created a very Village scene of Phoebe Fawn and Arthur Lamb enjoying berry-picking time. Phoebe has a full basket of blueberries whereas Arthur appears to have gobbled all his strawberries right up. Not to worry, Arthur – there are plenty of berries to go around!
–

Artist: Amelia P., age 11
Amelia's drawing is titled 'Hazel Quilt of Nature', which we think is a brilliant concept! We highly recommend zooming in to observe all the little details. If we had to pick a favorite part, it would probably be Annicke Mouse's painting of Toby Newt if he were made of fruit.
–

Artist: Amalia, age 9
We think Amalia's crayon drawing of Ella Toad gathering purple flowers is perfectly sweet. She also did some rather sophisticated shading/highlighting on Ella's face and basket. Nice work, Amalia!
–

Artist: Ella Novogratz, age 25
This black and white drawing of Lucy Owl gathering flowers really stood out amongst the other submissions, so we knew we had to include it! Ella's block print-esque art style feels a little bit witchy, which we think Lucy would appreciate.
–

Artist: Lexi Rowland, age 23
We love the peaceful feeling of Lexi's painting. Tillie Goose is floating on her back in a forest pool, while Margot Cat is sitting against a tree trunk and making a yellow flower crown to match the one on her head. We assume she plans to give it to Tillie when she's finished. How kind, and very Village!
–

Artist: Halle, age 13
We love the creativity of Halle's artwork! Across three sheets of paper, she painted a parade of limited-edition Village friends going on a nature walk. There is so much to look at here, and the attention to detail is superb. It's clear Halle really knows her stuff when it comes to Hazel Village.
–

Artist: Frida, age 10
Frida drew the bunny twins Emma and Penelope enjoying a picnic underneath a beautiful rainbow. We love that she put them in outfits that coordinate perfectly but don't exactly match – very fitting!
–

Artist: Olivia Mitchell, age 14
Olivia's artwork shows Owen Fox and Flora Fox wearing matching flower crowns and dancing together in a golden-lit forest. It's quite a magical scene, and Owen and Flora look so light on their feet!
–

Artist: Lucy Gliganic, age 6
Lucy's artwork of Gracie Cat is titled 'Gracie finds a rare type of rock.' Indeed, at the bottom of frame we can see a big rock studded with sparkling rainbow crystals – magnificent! We liked the 3D element Lucy chose to incorporate in this piece.
–

Artist: Ron, age 33
We were impressed by the masterful shading and color work in Ron's marker drawing of Phoebe Fawn. We also enjoy how it feels as though we are viewing the scene by peering through leafy branches at the forest's edge.
–

Artist: Ashleigh, age 34
Ashleigh's artwork is a beautiful painted scene of the Hazel Village creek. We noticed that she has Zoe Rabbit not only waving to Toby Newt, but also to another newt as well – perhaps a friend of Toby's? This is a nice nod to Zoe's story.
–

Artist: Elliot S., age 8
We were delighted by Elliot's idea to draw his Villagers as different members of a royal court, depicted individually in a style reminiscent of character cards. Elliot even included a little map with a compass to help set the scene. Brilliant!
–

Artist: Lucy May Cond, age 10
We love how Lucy interpreted the 'Nature's Splendor' prompt through woodland fashion. She submitted a number of different nature-inspired outfits, and this one was our favorite: Ella Toad wearing a starry night sky bonnet with a dreamy sunset landscape dress.
–

Artist: LeRoy James Cond, age 8
LeRoy drew Oliver Mouse wearing a spiky green and yellow crown, a long green cape, and green boots, with tall green hedgerows on either side of him. Clearly Oliver is a forest king of some sort, and we love the confidence he exudes!
–

Artist: Barry, age 29
This piece is simply stunning! Toby Newt, Alexander Opossum, Lucy Owl, and Florence Bat parade along a forest path at nighttime, carrying lanterns and surrounded by fireflies. Barry's use of light and intricate detail create such a compelling atmosphere.
–

Artist: Bella Raine, age 7
Bella's excellent drawing features Gaspard & Philomena Duck waddling through spring flowers. We love how colorful it is and how Bella chose to pose them.
–

Artist: Christine
Christine's painting of Margot Cat watering a garden is so beautiful! The style reminds us of Beatrix Potter – it has a classic storybook quality, full of character and charm.
–

Artist: Jennifer and her 2 year old daughter
Jennifer and her daughter depicted Zoe Rabbit in a flowery field, using a unique collage approach with felt, twigs, beads, and beautiful iridescent blue buttons. We think the result is quite special!
