The Mushroom Festival

The Mushroom Festival Collection will be live on our site this Monday, October 27th at 1 PM ET! There is a purchase limit of 1 per household for all 7 items in this collection, which will be lifted 24 hours after launch.

You are invited to Hazel Village’s very first Mushroom Festival – an auspicious occasion! The animals plan to have a mushroom tasting contest, perform fungi-inspired dances, and sing songs like “Roll the Puffball," “Toadstool Hop," and “The Juicy Chanterelle."

Read on for all the photos, prices, and product details! 🍄

Mushroom Print Jumpsuit for Dolls – $18
Limit of 1 per household

The Hazel Village animals have a deep appreciation for all the forest’s fungi – the mushrooms that are good for eating, as well as those that are best for simply admiring. This collared jumpsuit features our original artwork of assorted mushrooms, screen printed in brick red ink onto crisp white cotton. It has an elastic waist, front velcro closure, and a thoughtful tail hole. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.

Giant Toadstool Costume for Dolls – $42
Limit of 1 per household

A magnificent costume for the Mushroom Festival! The stunning red velvet cap is hand-embroidered with white spots, and its ivory linen underside is artfully pleated to create the effect of gills. The lightly padded, column-shaped suit has a neck ruff to evoke the skirt around a mushroom’s stem. Closes in back with two velcro tabs. Handmade by our artisan partners in Cambodia.

Chanterelle Tutu Romper for Dolls – $20
Limit of 1 per household

Juliette Rabbit has been practicing a Chanterelle Ballet to perform at the Mushroom Festival. Her dancing romper is made from ochre yellow satin, and has an attached tutu of sparkly golden tulle. Cross-back straps, elastic cuffs, and velcro back closure. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.

Chanterelle Bonnet for Dolls – $18
Limit of 1 per household

This bonnet was inspired by a chanterelle, which is perhaps the most fanciful of fungi. White corduroy evokes the mushroom’s pale gills, and ochre yellow satin frames your animal’s face with a gently ruffled brim. Ties in a bow under the chin, and sits in such a way that any animal can wear it comfortably – even toads! Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.

Oyster Mushroom Gown for Dolls – $24
Limit of 1 per household

Pink oyster mushrooms are Emma Rabbit’s favorite fungi, and this avant-garde gown is very much Emma’s style. It is made from cotton rib knit with gently ruffled panels cascading down the front. Fastens at the back collar with a real shell button and loop. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.

Enoki Mushroom Scarf for Dolls – $18
Limit of 1 per household

A cozy keyhole scarf embellished with bountiful bobbles! Keeps the animals warm during outdoor Mushroom Festival activities (like the Mycelial Contemplation Labyrinth*). Hand knit from white woolen yarn by our artisan partners in Nepal.

*Jane says this is when the animals pretend to be a mycelial network as they slowly walk a contemplation labyrinth which has a soil-colored tarp held overhead, and then after a symbolic rain storm, they jump up through the tarp to become the fungi’s fruiting bodies.

Mushroom Chef Set for Dolls – $26
Limit of 1 per household

An important Mushroom Festival event is the Tasting Contest, in which animals close their eyes and taste different kinds of sautéed mushrooms. The winner must correctly identify not only the type of mushroom, but also the location from which it was foraged. This sublime mushroom chef set includes a matching hat and apron, made from cotton and linen in earthy tones. The hat fastens with velcro, and the apron ties in a bow at the back. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.
