Parade of the Turtle Society!

The members of the Hazel Village Turtle Society go on s-l-o-w hikes through the forest, observing turtles and discussing conservation of turtle habitats. This year, they decided to have their very first Turtle Parade! 🐢🐢🐢

The Turtle Parade Collection will be live on our site this Wednesday, May 14th at 1 PM ET! There is a purchase limit of 1 per household for each item in this collection, which will be lifted after 24 hours.

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, so imagine how flattered the real turtles must be when they see the Villagers slowly parading along forest trails wearing their turtley uniforms and costumes!

Read on for all the details of this turtle-tastic collection!

Grand Turtle Costume for Dolls – $42
Limit of 1 per household

This magnificent costume is the pièce de résistance of the Turtle Parade! The upper shell is made from teal green corduroy, sewn in scale-like shapes (called scutes) just like on a real turtle. The under shell is natural-colored linen, accented by hand-stitched lines of mossy green embroidery. There is a spring green linen hood and a matching tiny tail, the better to make the wearer feel truly turtle-ified. The costume fastens in front with two real shell buttons and hand-sewn goldenrod buttonholes. Handmade by our talented artisan partners in Cambodia.

Parade Marcher Suit for Dolls – $16
Limit of 1 per household

The animals wear these suits when they march in the Turtle Parade, holding turtle banners and loudly proclaiming things like: “SLOW AND STEADY, TURTLE READY!” Made from bright yellow cotton-linen blend fabric, with the Turtle Society emblem stamped on the chest. Closes in front with two velcro tabs. Classic collar, elastic waist, gathered cuffs, and a thoughtful tail hole. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.

Mini Turtle – $18
Limit of 1 per household

The animals like to snuggle this tiny dolly during Turtle Society meetings as they make plans for the Turtle Parade. Gwendolyn Raccoon declared her name to be Broccolini, and everyone else agreed that was just right. Broccolini has a light green shell with dark green hand-stitched details. The rest of her is tan-colored, and she has cute pink spots embroidered on her cheeks. Handmade from organic cotton fleece by our artisan partners in Cambodia.

Trinket Turtles Set – $20
Limit of 1 per household

A bale of baby turtles, each as tiny as tiny can be! These minuscule dollies are made from recycled cotton saris, which were originally many different colors but have been overdyed in green to create lovely turtle tones. The varied designs of these recycled textiles give each turtle a unique shell print. Set includes five trinket turtles packed in a muslin bag. Handmade by our artisan partners in India. Recommended for Ages 6+.

Limit of 1 per household

Perfect for carrying a bale of baby turtle dollies, one regular mini-size turtle dolly, or perhaps some tasty walnut chewies to keep up your parading energy. White cotton twill tape strap secures with a single real shell button. Handmade by our artisan partners in Cambodia.

Turtle Society Sash + Badges for Dolls – $22
Limit of 1 per household

This goldenrod linen sash is emblazoned with the Turtle Society insignia and fastens with a tiny green turtle-shaped corozo button. Comes with four iron-on patches that your animal can earn as a member of the Turtle Society:

  • Field Notes Badge, for recording observations of turtles in their environments
  • Turtle Hatchling Badge, for spotting a baby turtle hatching from its egg
  • Clean Air and Water Badge, for helping to keep the turtle’s habitat clean. That is especially important for turtles because many turtle species live a long time and can build up high levels of pollution in their bodies – Turtle Fact!
  • Rare Turtle Badge, edged in gold, for spotting an especially rare turtle!
