Lucy Owl's Library Collection will be live on our website this Tuesday, September 10th at 1PM ET!
We are delighted to debut our dear friend Lucy Owl's brand new design! Lucy is a permanent resident of Hazel Village, and this new design will be her permanent look for the future. She tells us she is feeling fresh as a daisy right down to her tail feathers – how splendid!
In addition to Lucy, this collection includes: 5 items of doll clothing/accessories, 2 items of wooden play furniture, and 1 special set of mini books. Plus, while supplies last you will receive a special EXTRA LARGE bandana if you purchase Lucy Owl!
Please note that we have limited quantities for certain items in this collection, so there is a launch-day purchase limit of ONE per household for everything except Lucy herself. This purchase limit will be lifted after 24 hours.

Lucy Owl – $48
Lucy Owl has developed a regimen of morning exercises that increase upper body strength. Every morning, she does them in the meadow in front of her house. She wants to set a good example for the other animals, because she thinks they're a little spindly. They are not too interested, even though she tells them the better their upper body strength, the better the foraging.
To celebrate Lucy Owl’s new design, she will be arriving at your home bundled in a special-edition EXTRA LARGE custom printed bandana! Lucy’s bandana features her cozy cottage and many of her favorite things (such as books, acorns, and freshly sharpened pencils). It is 21” square – for reference, our usual bandana size is 13”. Original artwork by our design elf Sara, screen printed onto finely woven white cotton. This special bandana will be included with the purchase of a Lucy Owl ONLY WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.
Exercise Bloomers for Dolls – $14

Lucy Owl wears these overall bloomers while she does her regimen of morning exercises in the meadow. She says they are very comfortable, and their special pattern of her favorite things is quite motivating. She would also be happy to lend these bloomers to any other Villager, especially if she can convince them to exercise with her. Made from finely woven white cotton and screen printed with a pattern of objects that represent Lucy’s favorite activities, such as reading, writing, and naturalism. Handmade in Colombia, with original artwork by our design elf Sara.
Library Books Box Set for Dolls – $26

Lucy Owl greatly enjoys reading and keeps a small library in her house. Any animal is welcome to drop by and borrow a book. This set includes six books, two of which Lucy wrote herself and four others which she has collected. Each book contains full text and illustrations, so you can really read them and look at the pictures with your woodland friends. They will come to you neatly tucked inside a beautiful blue box which is decorated with golden storybook artwork.
In reality these books were written, illustrated, and designed here at our Brooklyn workshop. We really love making tiny books for the Hazel Village animals, even though they do take quite a lot of time and sometimes people don’t even realize there are real words inside. We think they’re worth the effort! These were printed very nicely by Girlie Press, a woman-owned print shop in Seattle, WA. The special box they come in was sustainably handcrafted from traditional Lokta paper by our artisan partners in Nepal.
Three titles in this set have been printed for the very first time: Nuts & Berries, How to Identify Types of Trees by Their Leaves, and The Tale of the Fearless Badger. The remaining titles were originally printed in years past and have been reissued for this box set: Hero Girls of the Forest, Turtles & You, and Mystical Forest Cookbook.
Book Bag for Dolls – $12

The Villagers always like to bring a book or two when they go on adventures, so they will be prepared in case they happen to stumble upon the perfect reading spot. This backpack is roomy enough to carry some books, a sweater, a snack, and a mini animal dolly for company. It is made from brown cotton canvas, and has a large main pocket with a riveted leather tab closure and a real shell button. The exterior pocket is trimmed in blue-and-white gingham, and the straps are made from traditional Japanese striped cotton tape. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.
Calendula Leg Warmers for Dolls – $16

A pattern of yellow calendula blooms adorns these charming red knitted leg warmers. Lucy Owl says they are the perfect accessory for late summer and early autumn weather, when she still want to wear shorts but also wants to be cozy in the evenings. Hand knit by talented artisans in Peru from the softest baby alpaca wool, and can be worn by any Hazel Village friend.
Scholarly Blouse for Dolls – $14

If you ask Lucy Owl, she will tell you that the Hazel Village animals definitely go to school and they love it. If you were to ask the other animals, they would probably say that they love playing school. At any rate, Lucy likes to be the teacher, and she will usually wear this scholarly blouse. It is made from light blue linen and has puffed sleeves, a white peter pan collar, and a lovely goldenrod silk accent at the neck. Velcro back closure, fits any Hazel Village doll or animal, handmade in Cambodia.
Thinking Cap for Dolls – $18

It is well known that Lucy Owl loves reading and writing, but did you know that she is also the Village archivist and runs the animals’ newspaper? Quite impressive, that Lucy! Naturally, she wears her special thinking cap whenever she is in need of a little extra brainpower or inspiration. It is made of brown velveteen, with goldenrod linen trim that ties in a bow under the chin. The hat's flat top is hand-embroidered with a border of sunflowers, and has a golden tassel affixed to a mustard-blossom button. How stupendously scholastic! Handmade by our artisan partners in Cambodia.
Reading Chair for Dolls – $36

All the woodland friends know that one of the nicest things in the world is having a cozy place to curl up with a good book. This is Lucy Owl’s preferred reading chair. It has a comfy hand-embroidered cushion, which can also be removed in case she wants to use it elsewhere in her house. The chair is made from real Neem wood, which is very sturdy and has a lovely warm reddish-brown color. Please note that natural variation in wood tone can be expected. Chair measures 4” x 4.25” x 5.75” and is recommended for ages 6 and up. Handcrafted by our artisan partners in India.
Bookshelf for Dolls – $36

An essential piece of decor for any literary-minded creature! This bookshelf has two tiers for displaying your animals’ books and trinkets, and a little drawer for storing small accessories or precious treasures. It is made from real Neem wood, which is very sturdy and has a lovely warm reddish-brown color. Please note that natural variation in wood tone can be expected. Shelf measures 6 x 1.5 x 7” and is recommended for ages 6 and up. Handcrafted by our artisan partners in India.
