Florence Returns for the Squash Festival!
When autumn comes to Hazel Village, the animals gather all the late season vegetables from their garden and make an enormous pile. They make preserves to be stored in their cellars for the winter, and cook tasty dishes for a special feast to celebrate the year’s harvest.
This year the animals were busy with preparations in the Lodge when they heard a soft creaking from the rafters overhead. With a graceful flapping of her wings, FLORENCE BAT swooped down into their midst. “Friends! I have returned to join you for the Squash Festival!” she declared. Welcome back, Florence! 🦇🍂

Pumpkin Seed Dress for Dolls – $14

This autumnal dress has a vintage charm that Florence Bat tells us is quite timeless. We trust her! It is made from finely woven cotton, screen printed in toasty brown ink with a speckled pattern of scattered pumpkin seeds. It has ivory ric-rac trim at the collar, a full gathered skirt, and short sleeves to accommodate Florence’s wingspan. She would also be happy to lend it to any of her Hazel Village friends, who it will fit just as well. Handmade in Colombia and featuring original artwork by our design elf Sara.
Giant Pumpkin Costume for Dolls – $46

How exciting it is to see pumpkins growing huge in your garden! The animals have brought some of that energy to this, their hugest costume yet. Dark orange linen pumpkin suit is lined with pale yellow linen and stuffed until it reaches an impressive bulk. Cute pillbox style hat has a brown velveteen pumpkin stem, and ties under the chin with green linen strings accented by hand-embroidered leaves. Handmade by our artisan partners in Cambodia.
Full Moon Pumpkin Costume for Dolls – $46

Like the full moon that glows softly in the night sky, this white pumpkin costume gives the wearer a mystical and bewitching air. It is a tad smaller and more elegant than the Giant Pumpkin Costume, but just as superbly stuffed. The suit is made from white linen and lined in soft taupe, with a leafy green ruff at the collar. Cushaw Squash Costume for Dolls – $46

Stupendously squashy! This ostentatious costume was carefully engineered to capture the splendid shape of the cushaw squash (which the animals tell us is one of the squashiest squashes they know). It is made from pale green linen, with narrow dark green stripes and an olive green stem on top. Lined in pale yellow linen and well stuffed, with velcro back closure. Acorn Squash Hat for Dolls – $18

Named for its shapely resemblance to one of their favorite nuts, the acorn squash is much beloved by the Hazel Village animals. This hat is made from dark green corduroy and lined with pale yellow linen, the better to look like the real thing. It also has a hand-embroidered button on top to evoke the squash’s stem. A snuggly pumpkin-shaped pod for your dollies’ dollies! Gwendolyn Raccoon tucks her mini cat into this pumpkin so that they can both be dressed up to celebrate the Squash Festival. Squash Blossom Headband for Dolls – $16

A GOURD-geous accessory for the animals to wear when dancing at the Squash Festival! Two yellow-green squash blossoms, handmade from wool felt by artisans in Nepal, adorn this fetching headband. It has a lovely jade green velvet band, which meets pale green ribbon and ties in a bow at the side of your animal’s head. Sewn with care at our Brooklyn workshop.
Mashed Squash Capelet for Dolls – $26

Who could predict that a squash-inspired accessory would be so utterly glamorous? The Hazel Village animals, of course! The fluffy texture of this capelet is reminiscent of mashed squash, a tasty dish that the animals love to prepare for their Squash Festival feast. It has voluminous rows of ruffled peachy-pink tulle, sewn over a linen base and lined with orange taffeta. Handmade with love at our Brooklyn workshop.
