Oliver likes to practice accordion after breakfast. He says he's been playing for about two and a half years, so he's getting pretty good. Even though Lucas Rabbit's real name is Lucas, his friends call him Pummy. He says it's because when he was a newborn and his sister was a toddler, she called him Pummy for some reason. Anyway, his favorite activity is digging holes in the pond beach so he can make swamp forts.

 

Reginald is a creature of habit: Every morning he tends his market garden. He has a shiny blue watering can, and a shiny red bucket for any slugs he finds. When he is done for the day he carries the slug bucket to the forest edge, and lets his slug friends go. After lunch, he rows his boat into the pond and drops anchor in a shady spot, where he naps and thinks about his novel.

 

Max has a hollow tree behind his house. He has installed numerous shelves and cubbyholes inside it, and there he keeps cool things that he finds: bits of crockery that he makes into wind chimes, good paper bags he's saving, presents from his friends, jars of pickles and jam, etc.

Lewis Toad really likes working on his potter's wheel. You can see how he would be good at it because of his webbed hands. But he's afraid of sparks from the kiln, because he doesn't even have any fur. Oliver Mouse finds that part warm and cozy, though, so he is happy to help.

As you can see, Penelope likes to be well dressed. If it's raining when she wakes up, she does indoor crafts like stringing beads so her clothes and paws will not get muddy. Although sometimes she goes swimming in the pond.

Emma Rabbit's favorite holiday is definitely May Day. She has been collecting Maypole ribbons all year. And every Wednesday afternoon at Village Dancing Practice, she teaches special May Day dances to the other animals. She says she learns them from various sources but also invents new ones.

Then, when Ella wakes up around noon she makes a delicious mushroom omelet, which is Annicke's lunch and Ella's breakfast.

Zoe Rabbit is converting part of the stream bank into a rock garden. It’s slimy work, she says, but somebody’s got to do it. Possibly. She’s building minnow pools into the lower levels, and a terrace higher up. Yesterday she saw two beautiful orange newts. 

Sometimes the other animals ask Catalina Mouse, doesn't that bonnet constrict your ears? She says, thank you for asking but in fact no, it is cozy and it stretches. Plus, when she finds nice acorns she can use her bonnet as a bag.

In the meadow full of tasty green grass, Arthur Lamb shares his toys and plays nicely with his friends Lucas and Puffy: kites, tag, and Baa-Ball. He snacks on grass and bonbons whenever he gets hungry.

Arthur Lamb first visited Hazel Village as a limited-edition animal in 2022. Now he has decided to return and move in permanently. Welcome back forever, Arthur!
