Welcome, PHILOMENA & GASPARD DUCK!

SURPRISE!! Philomena Duck has heard all about Hazel Village from her brother Gaspard, who paid the Villagers a visit some years ago. When Philomena decided to make the journey herself, Gaspard could not resist tagging along to see his old pals again.
These limited-edition mallard siblings will arrive with a splash on Thursday, March 12th at 1 PM ET! Their collection includes their 10 favorite items of doll clothing and accessories. A purchase limit of 1 per household for everything in this collection will be lifted 24 hours after launch.

Once we decided it was time for Gaspard to return, it felt like the perfect opportunity for you to meet his splendid sister Philomena! If you are curious which duck sibling is older, we can tell you that they are from the same hatchling year. (Beyond that, such details are not considered important in New Ducklingsburg.)
We included a few photos from Gaspard's first visit at the bottom of this blog post, so you can see how his design has evolved and how elements of his original collection inspired this one. Read on for all the delightful duckly details! ♥️

Philomena Duck – $60
Limit of 1 per household
Whenever Ms. Philomena Duck sees a performance, she tries to collect a souvenir for her memory box. Like when she saw a lakeside opera of “Fluffy’s Folly” and found a pearly little mussel shell. Or when her brother Gaspard performed the Quackfeathers Song Cycle in New Ducklingsburg Pavilion, and she got a lovely commemorative ribbon.

Gaspard Duck – $60
Limit of 1 per household
Where he’s from, they have a lot of Ceremonies and Festivities. Gaspard says his favorites are Splish Splash and Friendship Day. But a lot of the festivals are boring - like The Enumeration of the Wingfeathers, or Migratory Consideration Weeks. His legs get itchy listening to the other ducks intone their speeches and toasts, and he imagines diving into cool water and practicing his paddling. He knows the swimming in Hazel Village is first-rate, and he intends to take a dip as soon as the pond thaws. The other animals can't wait to see his moves.

Pondweed Print Dress for Dolls – $16
Limit of 1 per household
Philomena Duck loves the deep periwinkle hue of this cotton frock, and its pondweed print reminds her of happy afternoons spent bobbing amongst the rushes. It has cute cap sleeves, a short gathered skirt, and velcro back closure. Screenprinted with our original artwork. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.

Splish Splash Suit for Dolls – $16

Snapdragon Bonnet for Dolls – $20

Philomena thinks snapdragons are the prettiest flowers, and she appreciates that they have a hidden talent. Quite so! This snapdragon bonnet is made from orangey-red wool felt with a dainty stem and sepals at its crown. Springy green ribbons tie in a bow under Philomena’s chin. Handmade by our artisan partners in Nepal.

New Ducklingsburg Chapeau for Dolls – $20
Limit of 1 per household
A dapper chapeau in the traditional style of New Ducklingsburg. Many ducks in that region sport this kind of hat, but we’ve heard that Gaspard wears it with particular aplomb. Made from wool felt the color of a paddling pond, with a dark teal pom-pom on top. Handmade by our artisan partners in Nepal.

Lakeside Opera Jacket for Dolls – $22
Limit of 1 per household
Philomena Duck considers herself a patron of the arts, and likes to be well dressed when attending performances. This short-sleeved jacket is made from silky-soft cupro voile in a lovely pale blue, and fully lined in clay-colored cotton. It has a lovely scalloped hem and is beautifully hand quilted with ivory stitching. Fastens with two real shell buttons. Handmade by our artisan partners in India.

Mallard Feather Vest for Dolls – $22

Handmade by our artisan partners in Nepal.

Elegant Bathing Costume for Dolls – $24
Limit of 1 per household
When Philomena Duck practices her paddling, she likes to wear this rather elegant swimsuit. It is knit from ivory cotton yarn with the prettiest pointelle texture, a scalloped collar, and scalloped cuffs. Fastens in the back with two real shell buttons, and includes an opening for Philomena’s tail feathers to stick out. Handmade by our artisan partners in Nepal.

Ceremonial Dickie for Dolls – $16

Every New Ducklingsburg duck has a ceremonial dickie which indicates that creature’s family, favorite color, honorifics, etc. This particular dickie belongs to Gaspard, but Philomena has a similar one back home. Red wool felt adorned with blue hand embroidery and tiny pearlescent beads. Multicolor cotton backing, natural cotton ties. Handmade by our artisan partners in Nepal.

Friendship Day Pantaloons for Dolls – $16
Limit of 1 per household
These pantaloons remind Gaspard of Friendship Day, his favorite New Ducklingsburg Festivity. Scarlet linen, knee-length and high-waisted with a voluminous shape. The wide waistband is embellished with orange hand stitching, and the wide cuffs accentuate Gaspard’s duckly ankles. Velcro back closure with space for a tail to stick out. Handmade by our artisan partners in Cambodia.

Traveling Suitcase for Dolls – $16
Limit of 1 per household
When Gaspard and Philomena travel together, they need a suitcase big enough to hold all their duckly possessions. Natural cotton canvas, stamped with the Hazel Village emblem. Brown leather loop handles and side tabs. The red and gold zipper has a snazzy cotton floss tassel pull. Handmade by our artisan partners in Colombia.

Down memory lane...
Here are some photos from Gaspard's first visit to Hazel Village back in 2020. As you can see, his head was a different shade of green and he had a tan-colored beak. His wing embroidery was also different, and though you cannot tell in these photos, he did not have a tail!
