With a splish and a splash, a flip and a flop, who should pop up out of the gently burbling Village stream? Why, it is CLARA OTTER! She spied the animals' homes when swimming by, and decided she would like to stay awhile. Welcome, Clara!!

Splash! Splish! That is Clara Otter. She’s enjoying the cool stream waters - practicing flips, hunting for gleaming bits of river detritus, and finding freshwater mussels which might have pearls in them. She declares, “You never know!”
Clara Otter is handmade from soft organic cotton fleece. She has lovingly hand-embroidered details, fuzzy natural cotton sherpa cheek patches, and special-shaped paws for grabbing slippery rocks and shells. Clara is 13” tall, suitable for all ages, and will arrive at your home swaddled in our complimentary gift wrap. While supplies last, Clara's bandana bundle will be tied with a special-edition wave print ribbon!
Riverbank Dress for Dolls – $14

Clara Otter’s favorite dress is deep blue, with a pattern of many lovely shells like the ones she often finds along the riverbank. This dress has puffed sleeves, a full gathered skirt, and velcro back closure. Clara would be happy to lend it to any of her Hazel Village friends, who it will fit just as well. Handmade and screen printed by our artisan partners in India, with original shell print artwork by our design elf Sara.
Striped Swimsuit for Dolls – $20

If you ask Clara Otter what is her favorite thing to do, she will tell you “Swimmin’!” Then she will slide on her belly across the slippery rocks and do a flip into the river. Naturally, Clara’s striped swimsuit is one of her most important possessions. It is sleeveless romper-style, hand-knit from ivory cotton yarn with narrow stripes the color of sea glass. Two real shell buttons stitched on with golden accent thread fasten in the back. There is a thoughtful tail hole, so Clara’s magnificent otter tail can stick out comfortably. Any other animal could also borrow this suit if they felt like swimmin’ - Clara says she is happy to share.
Pondweed Swim Cap for Dolls – $18

Clara Otter’s swim cap is inspired by the lush, leafy gardens of pondweed that you can find hidden below the surface of lakes and rivers. This fetching cap is festooned with voluminous stripes of green and blue trim, and framed by two spectacular bows of hand-loomed sage green silk. The chin strap fastens with the largest and most splendid pearl that Clara has ever found. (If you want to know the truth it is a pearlescent button, not a real pearl, but that is nice too.)
Après Swim Lounge Suit for Dolls – $18

After a productive morning of practicing underwater flips, Clara Otter likes to take an afternoon nap on the mossy riverbank or the sun-warmed lakeshore. Of course, to do this she will put on her comfy après swim lounge suit. It is made from mossy green cotton and trimmed with a delicate Liberty of London floral print. The big snuggly hood has accent tassels at the crown and a wide brim to shield Clara’s eyes from the sun. The paw coverings can flip open at the cuffs, in case Clara wants to climb around on some slippery rocks. It also has a tummy pocket, so she can snuggle with her mini otter dolly Eddy while she naps. How utterly cozy!
Dry Bag Backpack for Dolls – $16

Since Clara Otter travels by river, she needs a backpack that will keep her belongings nice and dry. This special bag is made from dark brown waxed cotton and has an original custom-printed design of river rapids on the cotton shoulder straps. To close it, fold the brim over twice towards the back and then tie it off with a bow in the front. On a real dry bag, this would make a nice tight seal to keep any water out. Alas, this one is not actually waterproof – but we can pretend! Handmade with love in our Brooklyn workshop.
Riverine Queen Crown for Dolls – $16

Clara Otter sometimes likes to play that she is Queen of the River. She wears her special pearl crown and swims around to visit any creatures who live along the riverbank, asking them if they have everything they need and inviting them to attend her Royal Riverside Ball. This crown is made from fine wool felt in navy blue, cut into a scalloped shape and accented with jade green stitching. Elegantly decorated with pearlescent and silver beads. Velcro closure.
Foamy Rapids Gown for Dolls – $16

This ruffled gown is the pale green color of foamy river rapids in the sunlight – one of the prettiest sights there is to see, if you ask Clara Otter. She wears this gown whenever she feels like dressing up, such as when hosting a riverside soirée for all her friends at dusk. Made from textured cotton eyelet fabric with an elegant tiered skirt, short ruffled sleeves, and velcro back closure. Will fit any Hazel Village doll or animal.
Shell Pouch for Dolls – $12

A charming accessory for safely storing the tiniest and most precious of treasures. White wool felt in the shape of a shell, with light blue embroidered stripes and a pearlescent button closure. Affixed to a slate blue cotton band with jade green accent stitching. Clara Otter usually wears it tied around her waist, but it can also be worn crossbody or even as a wristlet. Hand-sewn by our talented artisan partners in Nepal.
Pearl Collecting Vest for Dolls – $18

This vest is perhaps Clara Otter’s most prized possession. Clara spends much of her time diving for freshwater mussels, looking for pearls, and collecting gleaming beads and trinkets that she finds along the riverbanks. Whenever she comes across a particularly fine specimen, she will sew it to her special vest. She is very proud of her collection! Inky-colored cotton vest is lined in dark brown like Clara’s fur and closes with two real shell buttons. Adorned with many pearlescent and silver beads, and framed by a looping hand-embroidered jade green border. Magnificent!
Mini Otter – $18

Clara Otter calls her mini otter dolly Eddy. He is named after a spot you can find in a river, usually downstream from a big rock, which is protected from the current. Clara tells us you can float on your back in these spots to take a break from swimmin’. What a fun river fact – thanks, Clara! Eddy is handmade from organic cotton fleece by our talented artisan partners in Cambodia.
